DMD Trucking, LLC
Dennis J.
Simniok (owner) worked from 1974 to 1978 over the road. In the spring of '79 he
went to work for Scott Construction, out of Lake Delton. He drove an Oil
Distributor, spraying
asphalt on the roads for a seal coat crew. As fall set in, he came to Rugby Pit
to haul asphalt for
Scott's. He ended up helping the crew work on the asphalt plant when it broke
down, they
ended up running the plant from 1980 to 1988.
In 1989 Dennis
went to work for Wissota Sand and Gravel, stationed out of Chippewa Falls.
He had a crew of 5 men, and went from location to location repairing and moving
equipment. In
1997 Wissota sold off some assets, and Dennis relocated to Richfield, in charge
of the pit he once worked in.
In 1998, in an
effort to boost sales Dennis went to Chris Larson (the owner of Wissota) with
an idea of getting a couple of trucks to deliver his product, to try to get a
handle on some of the
high rates that were costing them some work. Material prices were always good,
but
independent truck rates cost them the job. Wissota declined the idea to get
involved in the
trucking, but did offer to back Dennis if he chose to start his own venture in
the trucking end of
it, provided he was hauling Wissota material, or for a Wissota customer.
Dennis started
with a couple of used trucks, stockpiling in the pit, and making a few local
deliveries. In a few short years it has grown from an idea to a company, with
over 16 full time
employees, and it continues to grow every year. The company name (DMD) stands
for Dennis,
Matthew, and Daniel Simniok, whom are all very active in the business one way or
another.
Dennis strides to be a good service, and a good working condition for his
employees.
In 2005 the
company expanded again to include DMD Transport and DMD Brokerage
companies. This was done in an effort to diversify the companies customer base
so that not all
of its sales were based on the sand and gravel business which is very seasonal
and sales are
effected by the weather.
